Baby & Toddler Groups in Morpeth

Morpeth has a strong network of baby and toddler groups, from long-running church hall drop-ins to franchised music and sensory classes. Most run during term time only. Here is what is available.

Church Hall and Community Groups

Jelly Beans at New Life Church, 24 Dacre Street, runs every Monday 9:30-11:00am (term time). Ages 0-4. A relaxed drop-in with free play, craft, and refreshments. One of the longest-running toddler groups in Morpeth.

Morpeth Methodist Church Toddler Group on Howard Terrace runs a weekly parent-and-toddler session during term time. Contact Morpeth Methodist Church for current days and times.

Northumberland Family Hub at Abbeyfields, Morpeth, offers free Stay and Play sessions for 0-5s, plus specialist groups for younger babies. Contact 01670 623800 or visit Northumberland Family Hubs for the current timetable.

Best for: The Family Hub also runs free baby massage courses, healthy child clinics, and breastfeeding support groups. Ask at reception for the latest programme.

Music Classes

Hartbeeps runs at the Chantry Play Hub on Bridge Street and at Morpeth Masonic Hall on Dacre Street. Baby Bells (newborn-8 months), Baby Beeps (8-18 months), and Happy House (18 months-4 years). Sessions run on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Multi-sensory classes with music, lights, and puppets. Book online.

Little Music Stars at Treasure Island on Coopies Industrial Estate — Fridays for ages 15 months to 4 years. Singing, instruments, and movement.

Sensory and Messy Play

Bloom Baby Classes runs in Morpeth with structured developmental play for babies. Caterpillar Club (0-6 months) and Busy Bees (6-15 months) cover tummy time, sensory exploration, and baby massage. Small groups capped at around 15. Book via the Bloom website.

Treasure Island Baby and Toddler Classes on Coopies Industrial Estate run on Wednesdays — Baby Class (0-12 months, 10:45-11:15am) and Toddler Class (12 months-3 years, 10:00-10:30am). Sensory toys, music, and free play.

Baby Swimming

Morpeth Sports and Leisure Centre on Gas House Lane has a main pool and a teaching pool. Baby and toddler swimming sessions run during term time. The centre also has a castle-themed soft play area (90-minute sessions, reduced rate for under-1s). Contact 01670 500078 or book online.

Puddle Ducks offers baby swimming classes at pools across Northumberland, with Floaties (0-9 months) and Splashers (6-15 months). Monthly subscription. Check the website for the nearest pool to Morpeth.

Water Babies runs parent-and-baby classes in heated pools across the region. Small class sizes from birth.

Soft Play

Treasure Island on Coopies Industrial Estate is Morpeth's dedicated soft play centre, with a separate baby and toddler area. Useful for rainy days and as a follow-on from one of the morning groups.

Morpeth Sports and Leisure Centre has a two-storey soft play area. Sessions are 90 minutes. Under-1s pay a reduced rate of around two pounds.

Tips

Term time only. Most groups pause during school holidays. Northumberland term dates differ from Newcastle, so check before travelling.

Arrive early. Jelly Beans and Hartbeeps are particularly popular and spaces go quickly.

Bring a change of clothes. Messy play and baby swimming both demand a spare outfit.
