Greens Café Shortlisted for Café of the Year in My Local Awards
The independent café at Morpeth railway station made the shortlist for Café of the Year in the My Local Awards, with the public invited to vote in early June.
Greens Café, the independent café tucked inside Morpeth's historic railway station, has been shortlisted for Café of the Year in the My Local Awards.
The shortlisting put the Morpeth café in the running alongside businesses from across Northumberland. As the Northumberland Gazette reported, public voting opened to decide the winners, giving customers the chance to back their favourite local independents.
A station café with a loyal following
Greens Café serves cooked breakfasts, lunches, sandwiches, coffee and home-made cakes from its spot on the platform at Morpeth station. Early opening hours make it a familiar first stop for commuters heading down the East Coast Main Line, as well as a relaxed daytime spot for locals.
Best for: Greens Café opens from 6am on weekdays, 6.45am on Saturdays and 7.30am on Sundays — handy whether you are catching an early train or just after a proper breakfast in town.
Backing Morpeth's independents
Awards like these shine a light on the small, owner-run businesses that give Morpeth town centre its character. A shortlisting for Café of the Year is recognition not just of the food and coffee, but of the welcome and consistency that keep regulars coming back.
Whatever the final result, it is a good moment to support an independent Morpeth business. You will find Greens Café on the platform at Morpeth railway station, off Station Road.
