Two Padel Courts Approved at Morpeth Golf Club

Northumberland County Council has approved two padel courts on part of Morpeth Golf Club's practice ground at Loansdean, and they will be open for anyone to book, not just members.

Padel, the fast-growing racket sport that mixes elements of tennis and squash, is a step closer to arriving in Morpeth. Planning officers at Northumberland County Council have approved an application for two padel courts at Morpeth Golf Club at Loansdean, as reported by the Northumberland Gazette in late October.

According to the Gazette, the courts will sit on grassed land that currently forms part of the club's practice facilities, and they will be bookable by anyone who wants to play, not only club members.

A second attempt

This is a fresh bid. The Gazette reports that an earlier padel scheme for the club's car park was approved in 2025, and that the club has since moved the courts to a different part of the site. The full decision and plans can be viewed on Northumberland County Council's planning portal.
