About This Event

Each year on Trafalgar Day, the Mayor of Morpeth raises a toast to Admiral Lord Collingwood in the Buttermarket of Morpeth Town Hall, marking the anniversary of the 1805 battle at which the Morpeth resident served as Nelson's second-in-command. A bust of Collingwood stands in the Town Hall foyer, and a wreath is traditionally laid in his memory. The short civic ceremony is a long-standing part of Morpeth's calendar, organised by Morpeth Town Council. It offers a moment to reflect on the town's connection to one of the Royal Navy's most celebrated figures.
