Best Wedding Venues in Morpeth
From grand country estates to a town-centre coaching inn and Morpeth's own medieval churches — the best places to marry in and around the market town.
Morpeth makes an appealing place to marry, with a cluster of characterful venues within a few miles of the market town and three historic parish churches at its heart. Whether you picture an exclusive-use country house, a hotel with its own spa and golf course, or a civil ceremony in the town's Georgian town hall followed by a reception beside the River Wansbeck, there is something to suit most tastes and guest numbers — and our Weddings in Morpeth hub brings the local suppliers together too.
Country-house and hotel venues
Macdonald Linden Hall is a Grade II listed Georgian manor set in 450 acres of Northumberland parkland, and one of the area's best-known wedding venues. Licensed for civil ceremonies, it offers the beamed Adamson Suite for up to 120 guests and the Bigge Suite ballroom for up to 200, along with 50 bedrooms, a spa and an 18-hole golf course.
Wildhive Eshott Hall is a seventeenth-century country house in gardens and ancient woodland a short drive north of Morpeth, reopening in 2026 under the Wildhive group with rooms in the main house plus stable and cabin rooms, available for exclusive-use weddings with event bookings for 2027 onwards.
The Waterford Lodge is a preserved eighteenth-century coaching inn on the River Wansbeck, close to Carlisle Park and the town centre. Fully licensed for civil ceremonies, its function room seats up to 150 for dining and dancing beneath an opening sky roof, with a luxury bridal suite and seventeen en-suite rooms.
Civic and church ceremonies
Morpeth Town Hall, originally designed by Vanbrugh in 1714, is one of Northumberland's most popular civic wedding settings. The Northumberland Register Office holds civil ceremonies here, with the grand Ballroom taking up to around 80 guests and a smaller Anteroom for intimate ceremonies, steps from the town's restaurants and hotels.
For a church wedding, the Anglican Parish of Morpeth offers three historic churches. St Mary the Virgin is a medieval fourteenth-century church on Kirkhill, one of the finest of its period in Northumberland and known for its Jesse window. St James the Great is a Grade I listed Victorian church just off the Market Place, noted for its fine stained glass and detailed interior.
