Corporate Christmas Party Venues in Morpeth

Country house suites, a rugby clubhouse that seats 250, town-centre function rooms and civic hire. Where a Morpeth business can actually book a Christmas party.

Morpeth.net·

Booking a work Christmas party in Morpeth means choosing between two quite different things. There are the estates just outside town, Linden Hall and Eshott among them, where a country house and its grounds absorb a couple of hundred people without breaking a sweat. And there is the town centre, where a function room is five minutes from the taxi rank and nobody needs a minibus. Plenty of Northumberland market towns only offer the first. Morpeth has a usable version of both.

What follows is arranged by headcount. Packages change every autumn, so treat it as a shortlist rather than a quote and ask each venue for the current brochure.

Macdonald Linden Hall Golf and Country Club

Macdonald Linden Hall at Longhorsley, about seven miles north of Morpeth, is the default answer for a larger company night out. The Bigge Suite is a ballroom for up to around 300 with its own entrance, dancefloor, private bar and PA system, and a self-contained conference centre sits alongside it for a daytime session. The hotel runs its own Christmas party nights with a three-course dinner and a resident DJ, which suits a team too small to fill a room alone, and it takes exclusive bookings.

The real advantage is the bedrooms: nobody is watching the clock for a last taxi, and the spa and golf course excuse turning the party into an overnight.

Best for: Best for larger teams who want to stay over rather than get home.

Morpeth Rugby Club

Morpeth RFC at Grange House Field on Mitford Road is the town's most underrated corporate room, largely because people assume a rugby club means a bar and a raffle. The Elsie Davis Suite takes up to 250 depending on layout, Laidlaws is a sports bar with a balcony and seating for 100, and the 1975 Conference Room does boardroom for 15 or theatre for 25. A commercial kitchen and in-house catering service means a sit-down meal or hot buffet is handled on site. It is fully licensed for public use and has high-capacity parking, worth more in December than it sounds.

Best for: Best for a big headcount on a sensible budget, with parking for everyone.

The Waterford Lodge

The Waterford Lodge on Castle Square is an 18th-century coaching inn a few minutes from the Market Place, next to Carlisle Park. Its function room holds up to 150 for dining and dancing and has its own private bar, with a spacious outdoor area at extra cost. The kitchen does either a three-course meal or a buffet, and there is a choice of drinks packages. The railway station and taxi ranks are close, and there are bedrooms upstairs for anyone who would rather not travel.

Best for: Best for a mid-to-large party where walking distance is the priority.

Barluga Morpeth

Barluga in Sanderson Arcade is the smarter, drinks-led option. The private space takes up to 60 seated or 90 for a mixed standing and seated layout, and there is a three-course set menu, a buffet menu, a dedicated Christmas buffet menu and drinks packages, so budgeting is straightforward. The Vaulkhard Group runs it, so cocktails are the strong point.

Best for: Best for a cocktail-first party of 40 to 90 in the centre of town.

Pleased to Meet You

Pleased to Meet You occupies the restored Queens Head coaching inn on Bridge Street, unusual in offering a bar, a restaurant, Emily's Tearoom and boutique bedrooms in one building. Private hire comes with a private bar and a choice of two or three-course menus, buffets or sandwich platters, so it flexes from a daytime team lunch to a proper evening do.

Best for: Best for a team of 20 to 60 who want one building for drinks, dinner and beds.

Morpeth Golf Club

Morpeth Golf Club at Loansdean is open to the wider community, not just members, and its function room holds up to 80 with a fully stocked bar, its own toilets and a reception area. Head chef Kevin Wright runs the kitchen, so catering is in-house. An unfussy room at the value end, with a generous car park.

Best for: Best for a no-nonsense party of 40 to 80 without a city-centre price tag.

Morpeth Town Hall, if you want to build it yourself

To control every element, Morpeth Town Hall on the Market Place hires by the hour, Monday to Saturday. The Ballroom is £44 an hour, the Corn Exchange £38, and the kitchen can be taken for exclusive use at £9.50. The model is clear: you hire a Grade II listed room and bring your own caterer and entertainment, so read the conditions of hire on alcohol and finishing times first.

Best for: Best for a bespoke party where you want your own caterer in a listed building.

Smaller teams

For ten to thirty people, a private room in a good pub beats a function suite. St Mary's Inn at Stannington, a short drive south, has two: the Hine Room for up to 20, with its own sound system, and the larger Kendall Room for up to 30. In town, Sambuca on New Market runs a festive menu each December and handles large tables, which suits a department wanting dinner rather than a dancefloor.

Best for: Best for a single team or department who just want a good meal together.

One for next year

Wildhive Eshott Hall, the 17th-century country house north of Morpeth, will not help you this December but is worth knowing about. It opens over winter 2026 with bedrooms bookable from 1 December, the Stables and wellbeing facilities follow in early 2027, and the events team is taking exclusive-use bookings for 2027 onwards.

Whichever you choose, ask the same five questions: shared night or exclusive hire, sit-down or buffet, what is in the drinks package, how many cars can you park, and what time the bar closes. Those answers vary far more between these venues than the headline price does.
