If you help run a club, charity or community group in Morpeth and have a project in mind for the year ahead, there is a deadline coming up. Morpeth Town Council has opened its latest round of Community Grants for non-profit organisations seeking funding for an event or project, and applications close on Monday 30 November 2026.

Who can apply

The grants are for voluntary, non-profit groups that can show a clear need for financial help and whose work benefits people living in the town. The council's policy gives examples including locally based charities, youth and senior citizen groups, community amateur sports clubs, arts groups, advice organisations and community groups. School PTAs can apply for non-core items.

Applications from individuals or commercial businesses will not be considered, and groups need to be properly constituted with their own bank account. Only one application per organisation is considered in each financial year.

What the money can be used for

The scheme funds one-off projects, events, equipment and other capital costs that can be delivered within 12 months. It will not cover normal running costs such as core staff, rent or utility bills, work that has already started, general fundraising appeals, or items that are the responsibility of another public body. The council also expects groups to put in some of the cost themselves or find match funding elsewhere.

There is no fixed grant amount published: applicants set out the total project cost and how much they are requesting on the form. Priority goes to projects that directly benefit the community or environment, build skills, promote Morpeth's culture and heritage, or open up participation to new people.

How to apply

Download the application form and the full policy from the council's Community Grants page, then email the completed form to info@morpeth-tc.gov.uk. You will need to include your accounts (or, for a new group, a bank statement and outline budget), your constitution and a breakdown of the project costs.

Best for:

Deadline: Monday 30 November 2026. Applications are reviewed by a working group in December, with decisions expected at the council's Finance and General Purposes Committee in January. Late applications are rolled over to the next round, which normally closes on 31 May.

Successful groups are asked to return a short evaluation form once their project is complete.
