What's On This Weekend in Morpeth & the North East (27-29 June)

A quieter weekend locally but a big one for runners, with the Morpeth 10K and Juniors taking over the town centre on Sunday morning. Beyond Morpeth there is theatre, food, and dance across the North East. Here is what is on from Friday to Sunday.

Morpeth 10K and Juniors

Sunday 28 June, 10am at Town Hall, Morpeth. One of Northumberland's best-loved road races returns, starting and finishing at the Town Hall. A fast, flat course through the town and along the river, with junior races earlier in the morning. A great community event whether you are running or cheering from the sidelines.

Something in the Water (Joe McElderry)

Saturday 28 June at Theatre Royal, Newcastle. South Shields' own Joe McElderry stars in this new musical at the Theatre Royal, with performances at 2:30pm and 7:30pm. Well worth the train journey into Newcastle for a feel-good Saturday.

Buzz Dance: At The Movies

Friday 27 June, 7:30pm at Northern Stage, Newcastle. A high-energy dance showcase inspired by the big screen, performed at Northern Stage. A lively way to start the weekend if you are heading into the city.

Feast by the Sea

Saturday and Sunday at Spanish City, Whitley Bay. Street food, local producers, and live entertainment at the iconic Spanish City dome. A fantastic excuse for a trip to the coast this weekend.

Tynemouth Station Market

Saturday 27 June, 9am-4pm at Tynemouth Station. FREE entry. Handmade crafts, vintage finds, street food, and live music beneath the Victorian canopy. Combine it with Feast by the Sea for a full day on the coast.

Northumberland Plate Festival 2026

Saturday 27 June at Newcastle Racecourse, High Gosforth Park. The biggest day in the Newcastle racing calendar, with a full card of flat racing and a festival atmosphere. A short drive or bus ride from Morpeth.
