About Oldgate Tavern

The Oldgate Tavern is an independent micropub at 13 Oldgate in the centre of Morpeth, opened in July 2026 by Stephen Murray and Victoria Arnott. The couple bought the building, formerly Micah's Tearooms, at auction and restored it before opening. As a free house not tied to any brewery, the tavern pours 16 rotating taps, with launch beers from breweries including Rigg & Furrow, Sidbie's Brew Co, Thirsty Moose and Wylam, alongside ciders from Sandford Orchards. The small, snug setting is designed for relaxed drinking and conversation, and the owners have plans to add accommodation on the upper floor.
