Morpeth Repair Cafe: Free Fixes for Bikes, Toys and Clothes Every Month
Morpeth Repair Cafe offers free repairs for bikes, toys, small electricals and clothing on the first Saturday of each month at Barnabas Safe & Sound on Dark Lane. Next sessions 7 November and 5 December.
A wobbly lamp, a bike with a sticking gear or a favourite coat with a torn seam does not have to end up in the bin. Morpeth Repair Cafe runs a monthly drop-in where volunteers will try to fix your broken items for free, saving you money and keeping useful things out of landfill. Morpeth Town Council is promoting the sessions and inviting residents to bring their broken items along.
When and where
Sessions are held on the first Saturday of each month from 10am at Barnabas Safe & Sound, Wellwood House, Dark Lane, Morpeth NE61 1SU. There are two exceptions: in January the cafe moves to the second Saturday, and there is no session in August.
The next dates are:
- Saturday 7 November 2026
- Saturday 5 December 2026
- Saturday 9 January 2027 (second Saturday)
Best for:
The council's poster gives the session times as 10am to 12pm, while the cafe's listing with The Restart Project runs to 1pm, so arriving before noon is the safest bet. No booking is needed.
What they can fix
The volunteers look at bikes, toys, small electrical equipment, clothing and textiles, and the council notes there is "lots more" they can help with. Repair cafes work on a fix-it-together basis, so it is worth bringing any parts, chargers or instructions that go with your item. Not everything can be saved on the day, but a repair is often quicker and cheaper than you might expect.
The group is part of The Restart Project's national network of community repair events, which has listed the Morpeth sessions throughout 2026.
Volunteers wanted
Like every repair cafe, Morpeth's relies on people who are handy with a screwdriver, sewing machine or bike spanner. If you have skills to share, or would like to help with welcoming visitors, you can get in touch at morpethrepaircafe@gmail.com. For other ways to give some time locally, see our guide to volunteer groups in Morpeth, and for working items you no longer need, our round-up of charity shops in Morpeth lists where to donate them.
