About Carlisle Park

Carlisle Park is Morpeth's multi-award-winning riverside park, situated on the south bank of the River Wansbeck. It contains the William Turner Garden, a herb and knot garden honouring the botanist William Turner who was born in Morpeth, alongside formal gardens with herbaceous borders and unusual trees, a small aviary, ancient woodland, picnic areas and toilets. Recreational facilities include play areas for children, a paddling pool open in the summer months, tennis courts, bowling greens and a skate park. The park also encompasses Ha' Hill, an eleventh-century motte-and-bailey site, and the thirteenth to fourteenth-century Morpeth Castle. Admission is free and the park is open all year round.
